It is a family business but the core founder of the supermarket is Trushar Khetia. In the year 1982,the journey of Khetias Supermarket began. It started in North Rift, Kitale area. Trushar established a wholesale shop at Laini Moja, and they had only two employees, plus himself, so they used to hawk their producte to the rural areas of Trans-Nzoia using a pick-up.
The business then expanded and opened various wholesale shops in Webuye and Bungoma. The growth of their business, forced them to buy canters with the main goal of reaching the remote parts of Bungoma. In 1990,they partnered with Kaluworks, Lion’s Brand and major mattresses companies.
In the year 1994,they established their first retail supermarket in Bungoma, and in 2000,they built the second one. After then they started building other branches in Kenya.
Currently Khetias has branches in almost every county. It has a total of 18 supermarkets countrywide. It is among the giant multimillion supermarkets in Kenya. That is the story of Khetias and the owners of Khetias Supermarkets.
