UPRA Announces January Fuel Prices

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) declared on Saturday, January 14, that the fuel prices for January 2023 remained the same.

According to a notice from the authorities, super-petrol, diesel, and kerosene will all continue to be sold at the same price as in December 2022.

In order to protect consumers from the increasing prices, EPRA also said that the price of diesel had been cross-subsidized with that of super gasoline.

"The prices include the 8 percent value-added tax (VAT) in accordance with the Finance Act of 2018 and the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act of 2020, as well as the increased excise duty rates adjusted for inflation in accordance with Legal Notice."

This has made many Kenyans complain since they are buying fuel at a high cost, which is making them increase the amount of traveling. This has gendered the transportation of goods into the country.
