Covid-19 billions loss by Kemsa (2.3Billions)

The Auditor General’s office is on the spot over errors in the special audit on the procurement of Sh 7.8 billion Covid-19 related items by Kenya Medical Supplies Authority.

The National Assembly’s Public Investments Committee (PIC) raised the red flag after Nancy Gathungu’s office wrote to Parliament correcting errors in the amount of cash paid to Nano pay Ltd.

About 102 companies are under probe of Kenya medical supplies authority money that was scheduled to fight covid19 . Most of then never followed the process of tender procurement.

This means there was no compliance with the advisory and the tendering officers. This means there was over procurement of the covid19 related stock as need of the equipments was not considered.

Some companies had offered a cheaper price, but it is evident that the face masks and Personal protective equipments kits was procured from companies at an expensive cost.

Members of parliament are concerned about such errors. There was no legal frame work before the tendering of the equipments evident.

Responsible persons are to blame for not performing their duties as required.

This mystery has a great need to be unveiled.

The committee undertaking the research is about to finish and write a report about the probe.
