Kenyans inhabiting distinguished local and regional destinations will be forced to dig deeper into their pockets in order to purchase cooking gas following an exponential surge in the price of this pivotal product.

Despite the Head of State having appended his signature to the imminent Finance Act of 2022 on Friday last week that saw the tax on liquified gas halved from the existing 16 per cent to 8 per cent, the prices of this pivotal commodity have remained extremely high.

According to today's publication of the Daily Nation, the cost of refilling a 6Kg gas cylinder is retailing between Ksh 1500 and Ksh 1700 in a myriad number of cooking gas refilling stations wheareas the cost of refilling a 13Kg gas cylinder has hit a record high with the prevailing retailing price being between Ksh 3200 and Ksh 3500.

Total Energies Kenya is refilling a 6Kg gas cylinder at Ksh 1540 and a 13Kg cylinder at Ksh 3330.
