The Central Bank of Kenya imposed 20 percent excise fee on Bank to Mpesa transaction Starting from 1st January 2023. The Bank to Mpesa transaction has been provided by the government for free for the past three years. The Kenya Kwanza government lead by President William Samoei Ruto and Deputy president Geoffrey Rigathi Gachagua is trying to stabilize the economy of Kenya through saving. 
The Mobile transaction charges of Equity Bank shall range between Ksh 10 to Ksh 67 which will be exclusive of the government taxes. The mobile transaction charges of KCB shall range between Ksh 11 to Ksh 78. For example to transfer Ksh 1000 in Equity it will cost ksh 12 which in KCB it will cost Ksh 13.
