The President of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, launched Huduma centres in the country on 7th November, 2013 with the first Huduma centre in the country starting its operation that day after opening it. This Huduma center is situated in the General Post Office (GPO), Nairobi.
According to the Government, Huduma centres are one-stop shops for Kenyans to access and pay for Government services electronically in order to cut corruption and bureaucracy in the country. Since Huduma centres were introduced in the country, they have been providing services to Kenyans at low costs. Such services include application and replacement of ID Cards, application of Birth certificates, application of Good Conduct Certificate, application of CRB clearance certificate, HELB services, etc. The latest services to be made effectively at the Huduma centres is the pension services. This is good news as those seeking pension can now access the service in any nearby Huduma centre so easily. Earlier, the Huduma centres only provided Status of Pension Claims.
