Most Developed County In Kenya


Makueni county was formed through devolution in 2013 through the constitution of Kenya 2010.It is located on Eastern province of Kenya it's capital and largest town is called Wote.According to the Kenya National Bureau of statistics 2019 the county has a population of 987,653 people .lt borders Machakos to the North,Kitui to the east,Taita Taveta to the south and Kajado to the west respectively.It covers an area of 8,008.9km2 with a 5.6 % household level.The county experiences arid climatic conditions with an average temperature range between 15°C-26°C.The county is predominantly made of Kamba community.

The county has six sub counties ,Makueni,Kaiti,Kilome,Kibwezi East,Kibwezi West and Mbooni.Professor Kivutha Kibwana is the governor of the county who work well with the coordination of the county assembly for matters with development planning, technology, agriculture, industrialization and infrastructure improvement .The mail towns that act as commercial hub are Makindu,Emali and Sultan Hamud.

The county is rich in minerals such as limestone .Makindu town act as a commercial hub for market of mango and hass avocados which are the main cash crops grown in the county.

The world bank has investmented in the county through the Kenya Urban Support Programme such as provision of high mast floodlights to enhance security, construction of boreholes for the local community, beautification of wote town.
