The Governors from all 47counties have threatened to suspend County Operation by 21st June 2021 due to lack of enough funds. The Council of Governors chairman Martin Wambora(Embu County Governor) claims that the current financial year is approaching to an end yet the County funds are still not disbursed.He said that this is a violation of the Constitution Act by the National Treasury. Lack of funds have led to delay to offer basic services to people especially the health sector.The Council of Governors have given the National Treasury up to 18th June 2021 to disburse the County funds otherwise the Counties will be shut down.Initially,the Treasury informed all the Counties to pay off their debts so as to be in a position to receive funds in the subsequent financial year. However,the if the issue of funds between the Counties and Treasury will remain unsolved for long the consequences will be experienced by the citizens.People who work at County offices may loss their jobs for a while and public operations may stagnate.
