According to the information shared, Kenya wants Kshs 92 Billion concessional loan to be secured before the end of June 2023 and will be part of the Sh280.7 billion earmarked for external borrowing in the current financial year.
It is reported that this will be Kenya's 5th loan under the World Bank’s Development Policy Operation (DPO) framework. It is reported that under this program, Kenya has access Kshs 399 Billion shillings.
Speaking during the launch of of the 2023 – 2028 Country Partnership Framework between the government and World Bank, Cabinet Secretary for Treasury Njuguna Ndungu revealed that the loan aims at promoting sustainable, resilient and inclusive growth as well as promote human capital development.
