The Taita taveta county through the agriculture department is banking on world food day celebration to sensitize farmers on the new farming technology for mitigating the climate change effects.
Speaking to the press,the County CEC in the department of Agriculture,Mr.Davis Mwangoma said that the World Food Day celebrations that is set to be earmarked at Voi ground on 16 th October, there will be the experts who shall convey the lectures to the agriculture farmers on how to embrace the new farming technology for the better increase of their produce.
He said that farmers will also be taught on how to cope with the climate changes for them to be able to get know the crops that needed in the farm that suite the climate without being affected with the climate change.
Mr.Mwangoma stated that the county in conjunction with the national government have planned for the two days of celebration instead of having one day compared to other counties that will only have one day ,saying farmers will have enough time to learn more in the exhibitions.
It was said that Defence Minister,Eugine Wamalwa and the governor Granton Samboja will be in present.
To ensure the visitors being safe from the Covid-19 pandemic, the CEC said that they have limited the number of the people who will be attending the event, hence he urged the farmers who will be in present to ensure they meet the Covid-19 protocols.
He cited that there will be also the distribution of farm inputs to the farmers.
