All KPLC customers have been urged to set up bill alerts. Initially, all customers had to wait for couple of weeks before they could get their monthly bills. All Kenya Power's bills used to pay their bills through the postal services. Therefore it meant customers had to wait for long and keep checking in their postal boxes to confirm their bills.
Interestingly, nowadays the process of payment of bills for KPLC is simple. Therefore the process is done right on the mobile phone and customers can even go ahead and make payments through mobile phones.
Therefore KPLC introduces text based bill alerts, the company basically re-invented the entire process of receiving power utility bills making it easier for customers to make easier for customers to make early arrangements on paying them.
In summary the process involved customers registering for the service through a USSD code to receive electricity bill either on their mobile or email address.
Therefore there is however a simple way out if you no longer desire to receive text message notifications from a meter that is that is not associated to you. You can simply opt out from KPLC bill alerts
Remember just like you can register for the KPLC bill alerts services or request for your monthly bills through a short cord, you can opt out of any alerts services through a USSD code.
How to get bill alerts
Dial*977# to register for monthly SMS or email bill alerts by following the steps below. Select 2 then select postpaid bills. Next step select 3, bill alerts. Finally choose SMS or email and then activate.
How to stop bill alerts services
On your mobile phone, dial *977#. Then select deregister I'd you are using any of the above USSD codes. Then follow prompts.
