"Pesa ya DP Ruto Tulipata 50 Bob" Traders Vow Not to Support DP if They Won't Get Money He Promised

A week a go the Deputy President William Ruto toured coastal counties where he gave out donations to traders in different markets. The Deputy President was giving out money in form of cash which the traders were promised that it would be divided amongst them.

However a group of leaders from Mombasa who claim to be allied to the Deputy President William Ruto are crying short-changed. The group is claiming that they did not receive the money which was donated by the Deputy President William Ruto to cushion their businesses. The group now wants the Deputy President to intervene into the issue so that they can get the promised share, failure to which they vow to cease their support.

"The small scale traders did not receive the money that was donated by the DP," Richard Nyang'olo who is the chairman of Kongowea Market lamented.

Phillip Mweke who is a grass-root leader in the area has however warned the Deputy President that the people he gave the money to distribute it to the traders are not trustworthy. The elders in the market also cautioned the DP that he might fail to get votes from the traders if he continue to work with people who cannot be trusted.

Millicent Obudho who is a women leader at Kongowea market says that the DP gave out the money but the traders did not get it. She says that the money wasn't shared as it was supposed to be done as they lament that majority of the traders received 50 bob.

"Kina mama wanalia kwa sababu hawakupata hizo pesa vile inatakikana. Anasema pesa inaenda kwa wafanyibiashara wa chini. Sasa mia moja na shilingi hamsini mama mboga atafanyia nini? Wengine walipata shilingi thelathini." women leader at Kongowea market complained.
