Kakamega County Woman Representative Hon Elsie Muhanda has offered some assistance to traders who suffered loses and displacement in last week's tragic accident at Mukhonje Market in Chekalini, Lugari Sub-County.
In the accident involving an oil tanker and other vehicles, the track exploded after hitting a transformer leading to explosion of fires that burned a section of the market.
A number of people perished in the accident.
The County MP through her team in Lugari distributed market umbrellas to traders who lost their shades as a short term solution to enable them run their business.
“Following the horrible accident that happened at Mukhonje Market Centre, I instructed my officer in charge of Lugari Sub County to move with speed to find short-term solutions to our traders as we seek for finer solutions for our people.” she posted on her social media platform.
“On my behalf Mrs. Tande distributed Market umbrellas to traders who lost their trading shades as a result of the Tragedy.”
The legislator said that she was in consultation with various stakeholders within the area to find a long lasting solution for the market and the people.
