Today, reports have emerged that safaricom, Telcom and other networks in Kenya have suffered a huge blow. This came in after the high court issued an order that will see them not being able to provide live sports anymore.

As reported by the People daily, the high court has issued a permanent order to ISPs to block all live sports streaming in safaricom and Telcom Ltd. According to this publication, the high court issued this ruling after Multichoice Kenya filed a suit against safaricom and Telcom networks. On their petition, the Multichoice Kenya wanted safaricom and Telcom to be stopped from infringing in copyrighted materials.

This ruling means that live sports streaming will nolonger be available on safaricom and Telcom networks. This will be a blow to these two companies as they will lose some of their revenue which the used to earn from live streaming.

"High Court yesterday confirmed a permanent injunction compelling internet service providers (ISPs) to block sports pirate websites infringing on copyrighted material. In November 2019, Multichoice Kenya filed a suit against Safaricom Plc and Jamii Telecom Ltd seeking to compel the ISPs to block live sports streaming sites on their networks."
