International Hacking Group Hacks Russian Government Sites

The Russian government has stated that cyberattacks are being launched against their website by unknown individuals. Meanwhile, the multinational hacking collective Anonymous has claimed responsibility for the attacks on these sites. For the third day in a row, some Russian government websites, including the Kremlin and the Ministry of Defense, have been unavailable.

On Saturday, certain Russian official websites remained unavailable as the country's attack of Ukraine reached its third day.

The Kremlin and the Ministry of Defense, for example, have dark websites.

The specific cause of the outages is unknown, but the international hacking organization Anonymous has claimed responsibility for the attacks.

"Anonymous has ongoing operations to keep .ru government websites offline, and to push information to the Russian people so they can be free of Putin's state censorship machine," the group said in a tweet.

The same Russian websites went down for a spell on Friday, although state media reported that the Kremlin denied it was being attacked by Anonymous. It's the third day in a row that Russian websites have been unavailable, at least temporarily.
