Safaricom Announces 10 Hours Shutdown For 8 Services, Check Out To Avoid Being Inconvenienced.

Safaricom private limited company, a giant telecommunications service provider which boasts of the highest number of customers and services in Kenya and East Africa, has announced shutdown for some eight services to pave way for their system upgrade.

In a notice published in local dailies, Safaricom has notified customers that a total of eight services including product purchase, that involves: purchase of data bundles, purchase of free minutes, and sms, Okoa Jahazi which allow customer to borrow airtime for calls and SMS or data purchases, Tunikiwa which gives daily offers on calls and SMS, Balance enquiry that allows customers to know their airtime balance, Bonga points services, all postpaid services, and Home fibre services will not be available starting from 21st August 2021 at 10PM to 22nd August 2021 8AM.

While giving the reason for the shutdown, Safaricom stated that it intends to increase capacity in line with growing customer base. "We will be upgrading our systems to increase our capacity in line with customer growth and support more innovations to meet the different needs of our customers"

However, a few services including calls, data that involves surfing through data bundles, MPESA that allows customers to withdraw and send money or buy airtime, and SMS will remain available. Kindly share widely.
