It came to the knowledge of hawk-eyed Kenyans that the google doodle had changed in accordance with our Jamhuri day celebrations. The google doodle showcased the Kenyan flag in its logo. Jamhuri day is a public holiday in Kenya celebrated on December 12th in Kenya to commemorate the day Kenya became a Republic in 1964. 
This was the country's 58th celebration. The celebrations were held in Nyayo Stadium, Nairobi, and led by the 5th President of the Republic of Kenya, William Ruto.
Kenya gained independence on 1963 June 1 and we celebrate Madaraka day on the same day each year. 1 year and 6 months later,In December 12,1964, Kenya became a Republic and attained self rule.The country had only gotten partial independence in 1963.Kenya therefore celebrates 59 years of Independence and 58 years of Kenya being a Republic.
