Ministry Of ICT Speaks On The Alleged Plans To Disrupt Internet Services In Kenya

There has been claims on social medias that internet services will be disrupted in Kenya following the plans of the Ministry of Information, Communication and Technology to relocate a fibre optic cable which is along Rironi-Mau summit road.

Speaking about the claims today 23rd of July, 2020, the ICT Principal Secretary Mr. Jerome Ochieng said that the process of relocating the internet cable will not disrupt the provision of internet services as claimed by a section of media. The mandate of it's ministry is to ensure internet connectivity countrywide without any disruption.

According to Jerome, the ICT Ministry in conjunction with the Kenyan Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure is now implementing the permanent relocation of the fiber cable along the Rironi-Mau Summit Road which will be carrying all the Telecommunication Companies ICT infrastructure. The relocation is said that it will take at least six weeks to be compete ahead of the planned expansion of a two lane Nairobi-Mau Summit road into a 4 dual carriage way.
