Memorial Service Of Famous Kalenjin Man Who Killed Colonist's Son Held At St Gregory Catholic Church

Jeremiah Kigen Mosop Arap Chemirmir famous Kalenjin hero died at age of 132 years. He was born in the year 1890, and he was among the few alive 18th century legends. Chemirmir owned a land at Miti Moja near University of Eldoret in Miti Moja in Uasin Gishu County.

Kigen rose to fame after killing the son of Mbugu, a colonist who owned a large farm in the area. Chemirmir landed in trouble after engaging in a fight that led to death of Mbugu's son.

While shelling maize at areas of Chepkoilel, Mbugu's son confronted him leading to a fight. He was angered by the fact that the white man was uncircumcised, and he dropped him to a maize shelling machine.

The white man died on the spot and Chemirmir Fled away for the fear of his safety. The local authorities searched for him for long time without success even after an extent of using "wanted dead or alive" posters.

Memorial service was held today at St Gregory Catholic Church and the Burial Will be Held on 29th January at Simotwo, Elgeyo Marakwet County.
