The relationship between Kenya and Tanzania has not been good of late with Kenyans accusing Tanzanians of being the ones who have started the bad relationship. This has been witnessed even in the manner the two countries have dealt with the covid-19 virus and the counter-accusations each country has towards the other.

Popular Criminal laywer,Cliff Ombetta narrated to the Daily Nation of his odeal experience in Tanzania when he was defending 10 kenyans and a Tanzanian after the Tanzanian government arrested them at Julius Nyerere International Airport after being brought by a Mozambican millitary aircraft.

@OmbetaC Word of advice. Never trust the Tanzanians. Never trust in their JUSTICE system.

Most of all, never trust their sweet smooth talk. They are just BAD.

Especially, if you are a Kenyan.

The Tanzanian authorities were accused of unlawfully arresting the 11 people. There lawyers maintained that they were kidanapped by Tanzanian authorities in 2005 and illegally extradicted in Tanzania.

One of their lawyers Cliff Ombetta had to escape from prison after he helped in securing the realese of 10 kenyans. He was picked at Maputo International Airport enroute to Nairobi. He was then bundled into a vehicle and driven to border with Tanzania then held at a station.

An opportunity arose when the police assigned to him got distracted. That's when he changed his clothes and a worrying a cap so as not to be identified easily. He unlocked the door and left living behind his bag.He crossed to Mozambican side and took a taxi to Maputo which is the capital city of Mozambique.

In Maputo he took another taxi to South Africa and crossed border by foot. From where he headed to Johannesburg by bus then flew back to Nairobi. The Criminal laywer vowed never to return to Tanzania due to the odeal he passed through.
