According to a olive report filed at Kiambu police station, the deceased had denied the lawmaker and his bodyguards entrance into the bar.
"It was reported by Kese Ndung'u, a resident of Kiambu and a manager of River Side Club that today at around 2:00am, a suspect known as Denno, a bodyguard to Githunguri MP Gabriel Kago went to the said pub," police said.
He was however met John Walubengo Makanga, a security officer who informed him that the club had been closed and they were not selling beer at that time.
The suspect drew a pistol from his trouser and shouted at the guard telling him that he should know people.
"He then shot twice at the guard at close range whereby one bullet hit the guard on the chest and the second bullet hit him on the left leg and escaped," police said in a report.
Scene was visited and the guard was rushed to Radiant Hospital Ngara by police officers where he died while undergoing treatment.
The suspect was traced at his rental house within Umoja Estate in Ngegu location, Kiambu township and identified to be CPL Daniel Kinyanjui Wainainaof Uhuru camp Nairobi.
The pistol he used to shoot the deceased with has been recovered and the officer who was drunk us been arrested and is in custody helping with investigations.
