How 11 Hard core Criminals staged a daring escape from Bungoma Police cell

Hardcore criminals who had been arraigned in court and housed at Bungoma police station cells have escaped.

The 11 criminals escaped fromBungoma South police station after digging the underground tunnel on Saturday night.

Confirming the incident Bungoma South police boss Wilson Nanga said that one of the escapees has been arrested after he was shot on the thigh.

"We arrested one of them after he defied the orders to surrender forcing our officer to shoot him on the thigh, he is receiving treatment at Bungoma county refferal hospital," said the OCPD.

Among the suspects who fled include; Brian Onyango, John Wanyonyi ( both Robbery with violence), Clerkson Otieno (Burglary remandee) and Simon Wekesa (assault).

Collins Nyukuri, Alex Muyekho, Bramwel Barasa, Pascal Namasaka, Emmanuel Wakoko, John Wekesa and Isaac Wekesa .

The police boss stated that the suspects were seen dashing towards Bungoma Airstrip when the officers followed them only to rearrest one. 

Majority of the inmates are not being taken to prison direct after judgement for fear of spreading Covid-19 and majority of them are taken to police cells awaiting their results before they are taken to prison if they turn negative.
