How Arrested Police Constable Conned Mpesa Shop Owners

Police constable Isaiah Monda Ontita has been arrested in Thika after he defrauded three Mpesa agents of a total of Ksh. 124k.

Monda was arrested by the public and frog matched to Thika Police Station after he walked to three Mpesa shops in the pre-text of depositing money to his Mpesa line only to turn out that he was actually after conning the shop owners.

In the first incident, he walked into shop owned by one Jane Wanjiru, where he asked to deposit Ksh. 58,000. After the money was wired into his line he quickly deleted the message and refused to give cash saying the money had not reflected into his account

He walked into the next shop and used the same trick. This time he claimed that he wanted to deposit Ksh. 17,000. He equally deleted the confirmation message and refused to pay the money. In the third shop he requested to deposit Ksh. 49,000, he equally refused to pay.

Upon realizing that they had been conned, the shop owners with the help of the public accosted him and frog-matched him to Thika Police Station where he is currently being held awaiting his arraignment in court.
