Senior Police Boss Arrested for Demanding Sh500 Bribe

Information has been disclosed that a senior police officer was nabbed by detectives attached to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for demanding a bribe.

Inspector Wilson Kangongo, who is the in-charge Eregi police post, was arrested at Eregi market after he was accused of demanding a Sh500 bribe.

He is said to have collected the bribe from a citizen seeking services from the office if the Directorate of Public Prosecutions and hence the inspector disguised the money as bus fare to Kakamega.

He told the victim that he would use the money to travel to Kakamega in order to facilitate the services he requires from the regional offices as contained in the complainant's file.

Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) reported the matter to the police station and successfully recovered the amount if money that the inspector had obtained from the complainant.

Cases of bribery within the police service have always been on the rise despite the fact that Inspector General of police Hillary Mutyambai has been consistently against the vice.
