Riot Along Kangundo Road after a Man Died While Being Arrested For Not Wearing a Mask

Police officers were forced to fire teargas canisters at angry residents in Chokaa, Kangundo Road after they blocked the road to demand justice for a man who was killed for not wearing a mask.

According to witnesses, police officers approached the young man who was on his way to work, and confronted him for not wearing a mask.

While attempting to resist arrest, the man ran across the busy Kangundo Road motorway. He was hit by a mini bus that was heading to Ruai town.

The man died on the spot, causing a huge traffic build up along Kangundo road.

The 7.00 am incident sparked protests along the busy road, with residents barricading the road with huge boulders.

Traffic was diverted to the Chokaa - Utawala link road, while other residents opted to turn back.

Police officers from Kayole and Ruai Police Station arrived at the scene to disperse the irate residents, promising stern action on the officers.

The residents want the police officers arrested and charged for murder.
