One person has been killed by Police after Residents Engage Police in running Battles.
Taking to his Facebook page, Kapsoit Member of County Assembly Hon Paul Chirchir Popularly known as Tarimbo has confirmed the incident. Tarimbo has stated that Kapsoit Residents were in pursuit of a man suspected to have killed an M-pesa Operator some few days ago. In his statement, Chirchir has Accused the Police of Using Excess force to disperse the locals.
"Residents of Kapsoit centre in pursuit of justice for an Mpesa operator who was brutally murdered about 2 weeks ago tried to arrest an individual whom they suspected was behind the murder. Emotions ran high during the process and police came to rescue the man. This led to locals demonstrating. However the police resulted to throwing teargas and shooting to disperse the crowds. Unfortunately one life was lost through the reckless actions of the police shooting. This could have been averted had the police avoided the excessive use of force on unarmed civilians." Hon Chirchir has mentioned.
He has however demand for arrest of the Police officer who shoot at the Civilian and a total overhaul of the entire population. "We demand a total overhaul of the entire police apparatus in Kapsoit before the end of the day. We also demand for the immediate arrest of the police officer who shot and killed an innocent unarmed soul. Police should know that no life ought to be lost as Wananchi pursue their quest for justice." Chirchir has demanded.
