Drama in Nyamira as a Man is Forcefully Put Under Quarantine

There was drama yesterday evening in Nyamira when a man who travelled from Mombasa was fretfully put on quarantine despite having papers that allowed him to travel.

Amos Mokua lives Mishomoroni, Mombasa and was allowed to travel form Mombasa to Nyamira by the authorities according to the letter he had.

Travelling with him were two nurses who were scheduled to attend a job interviews for the Universal Health Coverage in Nyamira and Bomet on May 3, 2020.

When Mr. Mokua reached his rural home after dropping the two nurses, neighbours who knew he stays in Mombasa, shouted that he has brought C0vid-19 to the village.

‘I went home to spend a night there before proceeding to Mombasa tomorrow (Monday) when ne village shouted that I have brought home Covid-19,’’ said Mr. Mokua.

Mr. Mokua decided to go and report the incident to the area Assistance Chief but that also did not go well with the administrator.

‘‘The administrator requested me to drop him at the OCS office in Nyamira because he had some statements to present there. He also said he will consult the OCS for further advice on such issues of stigmatization,’’ lamented Mr. Mokua.

When they reached Nyamira, the Covid-19 team whisked him away in an ambulance and taken to Nyamira KMTC.M

Mr. Mokua says that before they were allowed to leave Mombasa for Nyamira, they were tested for Covid-19 and their results were negative.

‘‘In my car I have a disinfectant which I sprayed my car in every stop I made. So I followed all the Ministry of Health requirements, including being tested,’’ said Mr. Mokua.

Mr. Mokua says he was not given a chance to give an explanation how he reached Nyamira from Mombasa.

Mr. Mokua now has been put in an isolation centre in KMTC Nyamira and his car is being held at the Nyamira police station
