Virus Scare in Bomet as 8 Health Staff Test Positive, Uhuru Recalls Retired Doctors in a Presser

Health officers in Longisa County Referral Hospital in Bomet has not been spared by by Covid-19 as 8 test positive.

According to citizen TV, the 8 tested positive in results published by the ministry of health on Sunday. They were tested after a doctor, a nurse and an optician from the same institution tested positive earlier.

The hospital has 11 cases of infections to the medical staff. It was reported that PPEs are not enough.

There are fears that the virus will continue to encroach into medical staffs. The few is now in hospitals as only few days ago Kenya lost Dr Doreen Lungaliki to Covid-19 scourge.

Pumwani Maternity Hospital in Nairobi was also on the spotlight two week ago where 19 medical staff and 22 support staff tested positive for Covid-19

More and more health workers continue to contract the disease. The president himself feels that the workload on health staff might be too much.

While addressing the nation at Statehouse, President Uhuru Kenyatta directed the Ministry of Health to develop a temporary protocol to recall retired ICU staff. He said the move will help other staff dealing with serious Covid-19 cases.
