Speaking on Monday during the groundbreaking ceremony of the 6,700 housing units, Ruto said women should also be given jobs in construction. He said that women should be involved in growing the economy of Kenya.
"You must be deliberate about engaging women in job opportunities, especially in the construction sector," President Ruto said.
In addition, President William Ruto has encouraged the foremen who will oversee the Starehe affordable housing project not to obstruct the progress of women who would be seeking out informal jobs.
"We have been told that most women who work in construction sites are being frustrated," Ruto said.

The President has stated that the administration is interested in increasing the participation of women in the affordable housing program, which plans to build 200,000 homes per year.
