Roles and Qualifications of Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs In Kenya

Chiefs and Assistant chiefs in the Republic of Kenya are security personnels at the Location and Sub Location level respectively. Currently, the Republic of Kenya has a total of about 6,000 Chiefs and Assistant Chiefs all representing their sub locations.

Chiefs are deputised by Assistant chiefs as they play vital roles in ensuring security is maintained and members of their respective locations and sublocations are at peace with each other.

For one to qualify to become a chief or an assistant chief in Kenya, one needs to meet some of the below requirements;

(i) An individual must be a Kenyan citizen and of atleast 35 years old of age.

(ii) One must be a resident of the particular sitting Location.

(iii) One must be in possession of good communication skills and must be responsible.

(iv) One must have an original KCSE certificate with a mean grade of C and be in possession of a Public Administration or Management certificate.
