The President is at liberty to appoint the chancellors of the public universities across the country and the latest appointment is one that is highly welcome from all quarters given the experience of the man and the way he has been able to turn around the fortunes of many people in the business sector.
Centum Investment Group is one of the biggest companies in not just Kenya but the rest of Africa as well given the magnitude of money that it handles almost on a daily basis.
Their Chief Executive Officer, James Mwirigi Mworia, has been serving at the position for a number of years, moving up from an intern to the position he currently holds.
According to Daily Nation Newspaper this afternoon, the Centum CEO James Mwirigi Mworia, has been appointed as the Chancellor of Machakos University and will thus serve for a period not exceeding five years.
The appointment has been made by President Uhuru Kenyatta this afternoon at State House Nairobi.
