From Earnings Sh 150 Per Day To Millions, Little Known Jobs Yvonne Okwara Used To Do Before Her Fame

When talking about the rocky rise from grass to grace, Yvonne Okwara's journey to the top is one that is so hard to forget.

The darling of many was born on March 16, 1983, as the last born in a family of three.

She was once a student at the All Saints Cathedral Primary School, Nairobi after which she graduated to Kianda High School.

Her hard work, determination and zeal ensured that she transitioned to campus where she pursued her studies at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

What's unknown to many about her is the fact that at one point in her life, she had to put up with menial job as a waitress at Walker's Restaurant.

While working there, she used to be paid Sh 150 only per day despite the long working hours.

By God's grace, she got employed at the Kenya's Broadcasting Company hosting children's variety shows earning Ksh500 per episode.

Thereafter she moved on from KBC and had stints at several radio and TV stations including Hot 96, Q FM and KTN News.

Currently she works at the Royal Media Services (Citizen TV) where she is a senior News Anchor and Editor in charge of Research and Planning.

It is believed that she earns a salary of not less than Sh 500,000 per month including allowances.
