Former IEBC CEO Ezra Chiloba lands in a senior government job position

Ezra Chiloba, the former Chief Executive Officer of the International Energy Agency, has been named Director-General of the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) for a four-year tenure.

Chiloba's appointment takes effect immediately, according to the authority's board chairman, Kembi Gitura.

According to the release, "the appointment followed a competitive recruitment procedure to fill the position left vacant by the retirement of the former Director General, Francis Wangusi."

He graduated from the University of Nairobi with a bachelor's degree in law, a master's degree in arts from Central European University in Hungary, and a master's degree in science in program management from the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom.

He also completed a Blockchain strategy program at the University of Oxford's Said Business School.

Chiloba has received additional education in Corporate Governance, Project Management, Collaborative Leadership, and Monitoring and Evaluation.

“The Board wishes to express its gratitude to Mrs Mercy Wanjau, MBS, who has been acting as Director General of the Authority,” the board stated.

After the 2017 election, Chiloba resigned from the electoral commission in 2018.

Chairman Wafula Chebukati of the IEBC had suspended him prior to his departure due to procurement concerns at the commission.
