Salim appointment was announced by the Commission on Thursday evening, September 29.
"National Police Service Commission has appointed Massa Hamisi Salim as Acting Director of Criminal Investigation until the position is filled substantively and competitively for at least 14 days," he said.
The announcement was followed by a speech by former Director of Criminal Investigation George Kinoti. Salim will hold that position for 14 days until successor is found. National Police Service Commission has advertised this position on Thursday, September 29.
President William Ruto first ordered the police to replace Kinoti before the Police Commission conducted interviews for the job.
The head of state said this while announcing changes in the Cabinet of Ministers and police leadership. "Also, I have accepted Director of Criminal Investigation Kinoti's resignation and I have directed the Police to continue advertising for the position. In the meantime, someone else must fill the position," he said.
