If you are a Cybersecurity beginner, there are several choices available in your Cybersecurity Career path that you can explore.

Let’s begin with Cybersecurity Analyst: This is for you if your interest is in protecting an organisations IT infrastructure by using technologies and processes to prevent, detect and manage threats. Courses available for example are Comptia Sec +, Comptia Network +, CCNA Cyber Ops.

Cybersecurity Architect: This is for you if your interest is in planning, designing, testing, implementing and maintaining an organization’s computer and network security infrastructure. Focus on certifications like CCNA, Comptia Sec + for a start.

Information Security Manager: This is for you if your interest is in protecting an organization’s computers, networks and data against security breaches and malicious attacks. Focus on Certs like ISO 27001 foundation, ISC2 CAP for a start.

Cybersecurity Researcher: This is for you if you are interested in researching information systems and IT components for exploitable flaws. Focus on certs like LPIC -1, Comptia Linux +, Comptia Sec+ for a start.

Cybersecurity Project Manager: This is for you if you are interested in executing security related projects. You can start with the Comptia Project + certification, ISO 27001 foundation.

DevSecOps Developer: This is for you if you are interested in integrating security practices into every phase of Development Operations. Focus on Comptia Linux+, DevSecOps foundation for a start.

Forensic Computer Analyst: This is for you if you are interested in using forensic skills to recover information from computers and storage devices. Focus on Certs like GCFE, Comptia Sec +, EC-Council CHFI.

Cybersecurity Lecturer. This is for you if you want to work in an academic environment and teach Cybersecurity. Preferably, you should have some work experience and certifications before starting your PhD in Cybersecurity.
