Kakamega Governor Confirms Job Creator In Mumias West

200 acres of land in Mumias West district has been acquired by the County government of Kakamega to help in the exercise of constructing an industrial park by the Export Processing Zone (EPZ).

Governor Wycliffe Oparanya said the county government had entered into an agreement to hand over the land to EPZ for setting up the project that would benefit the jobless natives in the outskirts.

"Kakamega County Trade ministry has already done a feasibility study and a master plan for the project”, Confirmed the governor of Kakamega

Former CoG chairman was speaking in his office during a meeting with the Export Processing Zone team Led by the General manager Mr. Benjamin Chesang alongside  County Executive Committee Member for Trade Mr. Alfred Matiangi who warmly welcomed the idea.

Regarding the ready availability of electricity and water, he urged EPZ to expedite construction of the project and consequently explaining that the county has undertaken infrastructural development of the area to fast track the project.

"EPZ will transform the economy of the area and County at large as well as attracting foreign investment to create employment for our children," said Governor Oparanya.

 He added;

 "The park will be a source for foreign investment thereby uplifting standards of county residents".

At that moment General manager Mr. Benjamin Chesang expressed his appreciation to the county government for availing land for the project, advising other county governments to imitate Kakamega.

 "We are ready to commence construction of the industrial park that will be a game-changer to the county," Benjamin Chesang noted.

Aligning the ailments, Mr. Matiangi said plans to set up an EPZ project in the County was a welcome move and assured the team of the County's support.
