The National Police Service has announced that Massa Hamisi Salim will be the acting Director General of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations as they advertise for the permanent appointment. The announcement was made by the National Police Service on Thursday evening. Salim will hold the position for the next 14 days until a permanent replacement for Kinoti has been found.
"NPSC appoints Massa Hamisi Salim as the Director of Criminal Investigation in an acting capacity until the position is filled substantively and competitively in at least 14 days," the statement said in part.
The announcement of the National Police Service comes after the resignation of George Kinoti who was the DG of the investigative wing. Ruto announced the resignation of Kinoti on Tuesday as he was revealing the members of his cabinet at State House. Ruto had asked the NPS to look for a replacement of Kinoti before interviews for a permanent replacement commence.
"I have also received the resignation of DCI Kinoti and directed the National Police Service to proceed with advertising that position. Meanwhile, they should get somebody to act in that position," Ruto said on Tuesday.
