Nancy Macharia-Led TSC Petitioned, Accused of Favouring Mt Kenya Region in TSC Employments

Teachers Service Commission TSC has found itself in the spotlight after the Ombudsman accused the Nancy-Macharia led institution of biasness in the recruitment of top commissioners and top officials at the TSC.

The petitioner accused TSC, claiming there are massive irregularities in recruitments of top commissioners and senior managers, where Mt Kenya region has reportedly taken the lion's share as compared to other regions.

The petitioner, Pauline Mumbua, in her petition to the Commission on Administrative Justice (Ombudsman) dated November 23, accused TSC, saying the appointments of senior managers and commissioners favours only one region (Mt Kenya) when it is required that it reflects the face of Kenya.

"When you take a close look at the composition of senior managers and commissioners at TSC, it is evident that Mt Kenya region is favoured as it has a lion's share" read part of the petition.

The petition has been presented to the offices of the Director of Criminal Investigations DCI and Noordin Haji's Director of Public Prosecution's office.

According to the petition, out of the 11 TSC managers, 5 are allegedly coming from the Mt Kenya region, 2 from Rift Valley and Nyanza, with the remaining slots shared by other Kenyans from all the regions.

The Chief Executive Officer of the TSC Nancy Macharia, Director of Staffing Rita Wahome, Director of Quality Assurance Reuben Mugwuku, ICT Director Charles Gichira, and Director Internal Audit Isaack Nganga have all been listed by the petitioner as top commissioners/directors coming from Mt Kenya.

The petitioner recommended a swift investigation into the allegations, which it claimed has also led to skewed appointments and promotions of teachers.
