Meet Moody Awori's Sister Who Is The First Woman Bank Manager in Kenya Who Founded KWFT.

Her name is Dr.Mary Okelo. She is the sister to the former ninth vice president of Kenya, Moody Awori and former Ugandan cabinet minister,Aggrey Awori. She is a reknown entrepreneur,banker, corporate executive and an educationalist in Kenya. She holds a bachelor degree in History from Makerere university, Uganda, postgraduate diploma in Early childhood education, diploma from Institute of Bankers in London, Doctorate from United graduate college and seminary in USA for contribution to humanity and another one from African Nazarene university for service to the community.

Mary has gone in the book of records for being the first female bank manager in Kenya at Barclays Bank. After finishing university, she first worked as a cadet at Kenya Prisons she then applied for an opportunity as a graduate trainee at Barclays bank but she was rejected many times but she didn't lose hope. Finally when her application was accepted, she did her best which made her rise from one level to another until she became a bank manager at the bank in 1977.

Mary has been an influential lady who has worked as a senior advisor at the African Development bank, Vice president of Womens World Banking in Newyork. She has founded Barclays bank Women's Association to mentor women in business,the famous Making Group of schools and also the only women's bank in Africa called Kenya Women's Finance Trust(KWFT) with an aim to empower women financially.
