"How I Struggled to Find Employment as a Person With Disability. It's not Easy." Grace Narrates.

Grace Njeri has lived all her life without hands, and she has to face the challenges that come with the disability but above all she has accepted herself and survived the criticism that came with the condition.

Grace was born without hands and this came as a surprise to her parents who were from the village. She studied in a normal primary school where she was expected to perform like other children

Grace's education was met with a lot of challenges, and she encounters instances where they had to raise her legs high so that the teacher would allow her to answer a question.

She was slow in learning, and her parents knew very little about special schools. Grace studied through the challenges, and learned how to write with her legs. Grace can cook clean and even wash clothes with her legs.

When she finished high school she tried to look for employment, and she remembers one time when an employer denied her a job due to her disability.

Grace didn't lose hope, and she started to sell second hand clothes in Ruiru. She did this for one year but later went back to the village after her business went down. Soon after she got another job as a house help. Grace said that her job entailed feeding and changing the baby's diapers and mark you, the baby was just three months old.

One and a half years later she stopped working as a house help and took a job at a boutique where she was referred by a close friend. As if fate wasn't on her side, the business went down and the employer closed it down. Since then Grace has been looking for employment and hopes that one day she will find a job or even start her own business.
