Bad News To Public Servants Countrywide As SRC Cuts Their Allowances.

Today, we have just received news from the salaries and remuneration commission led by the chairperson Lyn Mengich concerning the allowances that public servants receive countrywide.

According to Nation, a registered public servant is entitled to house allowance, sitting allowance, retreat among others. In this year alone, we have seen the government increasing the number of public servants a good example being in the education sector where they had to deploy more teachers as others joined the junior secondary but still the number was so irrational compared to the students.

This means that within no time more teachers need to be deployed by the teachers service commission and this means the government has to cater for their salaries and allowances. For the first time, this year has seen the allowances paid to public servants surpassing the 1 trillion shillings mark which is like double the highest recorded in six years. The SRC has reported that they are planning to cut allowances for public servants to control the payout which has become uncontrollable for now. According to statistics, public servants have been receiving allowances bigger than their basic salaries and they might have to support themselves with salary only when allowances get scrapped off.
