Teachers in Kenya have been pushing for salary increment since the last CBA of 2017-2021 came to an end.
In the last CBA, the teachers especially the classroom teachers complained that they were played a foul. The CBA benefited majorly those who holds administrative position.
At the beginning of this year, both KUPPET and KNUT have written to the teacher employer to initiate talks for the new CBA.
TSC on the other hand already prepared a proposal for the new CBA of 2022-2025 in which the classroom teacher , that is job group B2-C3 were to get an increment of 32% of the basic salary.
Those in administrative post were to get an increment of 16% of the basic salary.
Today, the Teacher Service Commission has signed a recognition with Kenya Union of Special Needs Education Teachers, as a third Union to join new CBA talks.
This means that the teacher employer is in plan of finalising the talks with the salary and Renumeration Commission that will see teachers getting an increament at the end of this financial year.
