President William Ruto has appointed seasoned journalist Michael Gitonga as the Secretary of State Functions.
In the position, Gitonga will be the Government Master of Ceremony ( MC). This makes him the engine to run all state functions like Mashujaa Day and Jamhuri Day.
Until his appointment, Gitonga worked as the director of communication in the Office of the First Lady, Mama Rachael Ruto.
One of the finest TV show hosts, Gitonga made a name for himself when he worked for Standard Group-owned KTN News.
At the Mombasa Road-based media house, Gitonga hosted the morning show, Morning Express, where they hosted various panelists to speak on topical matters.
His partnership with Sophia Wanuna was one of the best in the country at the time. After over five years at the media house, he resigned to pursue personl goals. He would later be absorbed at the Office of the First Lady where he has worked since before being picked by Dr Ruto for a powerful government assignment.
