Lavender Ojalla, who unsuccessfully ran for the Homa Bay County Women Representative position has been appointed as a board member for the Lake Basin Development Authority by East Africa Community Cabinet Secretary Rebecca Miano.
In the gazette notice dated March 6, 2023, Ojalla and other appointees have been picked to serve in the board for a period of three years.
Ojalla is a common face on TV stations where she has been one of the panelists in the discussions touching on topical matters ranging from politics to governance issues.

In 2013, she was a key member of the Homa Bay County campaign team which at the time was led by the then Mbita MP Otieno Kajwang who was serving as cabinet minister in the grand coalition government between President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
Ojalla and Odoyo Owidi are among the Luo Nyanza politicians considered for government jobs in the latest state appointment.
Owidi has been appointed as the board chairman of the Lake Victoria South Water Works Development Agency.
