Youngest Radio Journalist Becomes an Inspiration to Women

Being the youngest journalist and the first female journalist from Kashmir, Samaniya Bhat is the new role model looked up to by many. The 20 years old just graduated from Baramulla college in mass communication and journalism and has been working for the radio Chinar since February.

Samaniya Bhat beat all 250 candidates to emerge the best in an audition looking for someone to fill the position.

She is now a champion for women through her show, she hosts Halla Bol where she talks to young achievers from the marginalized North Kashmir mostly of whom are women. While speaking to Zee news, the journalist said she was not so interested in the radio but it's her teachers who saw potential in her.

She reveals that she is in love with pushing women's agenda especially as the world is talking about women empowerment. "I find it fulfilling to talk to women facing problems and helping them find solutions. I recently talked to a girl who couldn't continue with education because her parents refused to," she said.

She takes credit for the growing popularity of the radio station saying many people from the valley are following her diligently. She encouraged women and girls to go to different fields to achieve their dreams.
