Good News to Kenya Power Employees as The Parastatal Says This About Planned Lay-offs

The Kenya Power company has gone back on its word to lay off employees by saying that it will shelve the plans for now. The Parastatal had plans to get rid of staff in order to cut costs because it was making millions of losses.

The company, through its managing director now says that the more than 10,000 employees need not worry. They will not lose their jobs after a public outcry when it announced that it will be laying off some employees.

Bernard Ngugi, Managing Director, through a memo on Friday indicated that the workers will not be facing the sack as earlier planned. He actually said that plans to lay off the workers was never there in the first place.

The layion off had been announced in a tender document that leaked to the media. Ngugi now says that they will change the document to reflect the position of the company at the moment.
