Kubai was forced to run away from her home at a very tender age to escape from her parents who were planing for her to undergo FGM and later Marty her off to a suitor.
She was rescued by a catholic priest who initially got a job for her as a maid before he decided to sponsor her secondary school education. She was forced to drop out and look for a job to sustain her aging parents.
However, her dream of becoming a doctor did not end there. She was employed at a Nyeri hospital as a security guard. However, with time she started learning how to handle Covid-19 cases and how to educate citizens on ways to protect themselves.
She later enrolled herself at Consolata medical college for a certificate.
She has been doubling as an operating theater assistant during the night after her security guard role during the day. She has now been awarded by Beyond Applause Heroine of Health for Health 2021 as Heroine.
She hopes to one day transition fully into the theater where her passion lies.
