"We Have A National Crisis, We Have Failed As A Nation" DP Ruto Says As He Takes On Unemployment

As he took his "reggae" to the Ukambani region once again with a tour of Makueni County today on October 25th, Deputy President William Ruto noted that our country is currently facing a crisis with regards to the issues of the youth many of whom are unemployed.

The DP who was speaking in the afternoon in a roadside rally in Kibwezi town after an empowerment programme at Kyanginywa village earlier in the day, once again noted that the unemployment rate in this country is alarming with the four million youth that are jobless posing a threat to themselves and everyone else.

That something serious needs to be done or rather proper programs need to be put in place by the government to save this country from this crisis and that he knows how to go about it.

On this, he started said that "unemployment in this country is actually a national crisis. Millions of our young people are involved in drugs, are in depression and many of them are involved in crime because we have failed as a nation in having clear programs on how to create jobs and engage our young people."

He however noted that he'll have a solid solution to this crisis should he succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta come next year, and urged Kibwezi residents or rather Kenyans at large to support him first for him to get in that position of helping them.

"It'll be our first priority as the Hustler Government to make sure that our four million young people that are jobless have a job or business to run," he said.

On how he'll actualize this should he succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, the DP said that he will set aside one hundred billion shillings for supporting of small scale traders and farmers as an implementation of his bottom-up economic approach in the quest to provide that employment and support self-employment.

Watch him speak at minute 4:30 of the video in the link below.
