Who Is Najma Ismael, Pauline Njoroge’s Replacement at the Tourism Board?

It is now clear that media personality Najma Ismail has been fronted to replace Pauline Njoroge as a board member of the Kenya Tourism Regulatory Authority.

The ghosts of a tweet which is said to have been made by the controversial blogger about the existence of the Nairobi National park came to haunt her and has cost her the plump job.

The Jubilee blogger had earlier argued that the Nairobi National Park should be abolished and the land put into some other activities which would generate real income for the country.

Pauline said that the park was only bragging of its unique location as the only national park in the city. There is no other park in the world that is found within the capital city.

The Cabinet Secretary in charge of Security, Hon Najib Balala revoked her appointment which had barely lasted for 24 hours on Saturday, August 8, 2020.

Her replacement Najma Ismael has been working with the Mombasa road-based Standard Media Group as external affairs and editorial manager.

The media queen began her career at the Coast-based Iqra FM where she worked as a news anchor and a reporter before moving to Sound Asia FM.

She has also worked with the giant Radio Africa as a news anchor and as a news reporter at the Classic 105 and at Kiss 100.

Najma Ismael graduated from the University of Nairobi with a diploma in Public Relations before joining KEMU University to pursue journalism.

Hon. Balala’s move to revoke this appointment by the Head of State is set to raise eyebrows in the manner of vetting process conducted on appointees to various government positions.

The Tourism CS said on Saturday that the integrity of the park is very vital and the government will do everything in its protection and conservation.

The official communication from CS Balala, “We are revoking Pauline Njoroge's appointment as a board member of Tourism Regulatory Authority with immediate effect, and replacing her with Najma Ismail."
