Espanyol vs Real Oviedo
The first match of the weekend’s fixtures in the LaLiga SmartBank is on Friday as Espanyol host Real Oviedo in the RCDE Stadium. Both teams had a slow start to the year but have now picked up form and we could be in for an interesting match.
Espanyol’s biggest issue this season is they are struggling to kill games off and it was the same again in their last outing as they drew with Sporting. In a match where they had their fair share of chances, it was the same old problem of finding the back of the net.
They were without their star striker Raúl de Tomás who has had a small injury and Head Coach Vicente Moreno has said maybe this fixture has come too soon for R.D.T. but he could still feature. Los Periquitos will know that a win here is a must as Mallorca have stretched their lead at the top to four points.
Real Oviedo are unbeaten in their last three games and Head Coach Cuco Ziganda will be hoping to extend that streak by getting something out of this match. The playoff spots are not that far away and if his side can keep playing well they could be in with a shout.
In their last outing, Oviedo picked up a win over Real Zaragoza in what was an entertaining end to end match. Rodri’s goal was enough to get the three points for Los Azules but Cuco Ziganda’s side will really have to be at their best if they are to get anything out of this game.
